Hi,
I have had my Packard Bell imedia since about 2005, and it has always Locked up frequently with a White Screen or Pinstripe screen.
It seems to happen mostly when I am online, especially while watching streaming video, but in general just being online is enough to make it fail.
After a Lock up like this I usually have to reinstate my personal Taskbar toolbars.

I would have taken it back to Packard Bell at the time I bought it, but it was the last one in the store and I always figured it was probably a Driver Problem or something I could fix myself.
Packard Bell would not answer my emails for advice. I bought it to make music and had to carry on, and it was ok doing that Job most of the time. So the problem remained un fixed.
To my knowledge I havn't lost any information as a result of a lock up. I backup constantly to an external drive now as well.
These days I come offline when I am using my PC for music making to stop it failing on me and these has worked so far.

It seems to be especially bad if I go on to Youtube or similar sites that are public and have lot's of streaming clips to choose from, which I like doing.

My PC Specs are:
AMD Athlon™ 64 Processor 3400+
2.19 GHz but each time I right click on 'my Computer' and choose properties it says 2.19 GHz and another time it'll read 984Mhz ??
ATi Radeon Xpress 200 graphics
XP Home edition SP3

A recent problem as well, is that if I go to Accessories/systemtools/system information
it opens the Help and support centre instead ?

And so I search there for system Info but to no avail.

I have taken my PC back to Original Factory settings several times and reinstalled my software but it makes very little difference.
It seemed to improve slightly after installing a PCI Network card, But that has made my PC surf the net faster and online streaming to work better. UNTIL IT WHITE SCREENS AGAIN.
Also the sound goes to a steady high pitch whistle when the PC freezes.

I am amazed that since I bought it in 2005 my PC still works ok after it has locked up sometimes 10 times a day and other times not at all for a week or so. Strange. Sometimes it has been in that state for hours if I have gone out and left the PC on by mistake.
I have an extra fan too, that made little difference and repasted and reseated my Processor.
I have searched the internet for answers to this and so far no one seems to know, but it seems to be happening to others.
God Bless You and Thank You for reading this message
