new computer- no internet!!

I have just purchased a new laptop- and HP with windows vista.
My internet is with virgin media(whom I have nad no end of problems with already) and it's a broadband connection.

I am trying to connect to the internet on my new laptop and can't do so because every time I try it asks me for my ISP username and password.
I have spend almost an hour on the phone to virgin media trying to find these out, but they seem to know less than me.

Any ideas? any help would be so appreciated!

You should have had a welcome letter from them? If not you will need your account number at hand when you ring them, and answer any security questions.

Normally your internet provider, in this case Virgin, should give you an installation CD along with the password. I'd recommend calling Virgin again, they should be able to give you this information or at least tell where you can find the password so your laptop computer can connect to the internet.
