my pc is dead

hi im quite new to computers and the other day i was preparing to install my mobile phones software when i suffered a power cut, since then my pc has,nt been able to boot up. i've tried looking in the bios settings and the screen that allows you to start the system on the last settings that worked but to no avail i even tried to re-install the os but that too did'nt work
the os i am running is windows xp sp2 but upgraded too sp3
please can someone help with this problem

hiya so will it get to the windows loading screen but get no further? or is it showing a blue screen? Power cuts can sometimes affect hardware sometimes such as your RAM, Power Supply or your hard drives by the sounds of it your PSU is fine. How far do you get when you try to reinstall windows?
