Hello
Just registered to ask for advice. I have just received an old laptop from my aunt, Toshiba Satellite Pro 4600 it's running XP SP1 and I don't really know what to do with it. I would only use it to watch some DVDs, play a bit of music and surf the web so to make it run smoother I thought about installing Ubuntu on it. I don't really know where to start and don't know if the wireless internet will still work. I'm using a wireless PC card. I tried to format C, didn't work because some process is still using some volume, when I tried to force it it didn't work either. |

RE: Beginner
You cannot format the C drive from within Windows. Did you get a recovery disc or anything with the laptop? Do you have a windows XP re installation disc?
If so you can just boot from the CD rom and install that way. If you have no media your best bet is to either install Ubuntu or keep XP and clear the current data of it. Regards, Free PC Advice Powered by our Partners: IT Support Manchester Selectweb Internet |
