Drive A: problem
Way back when using a Win98 PC I bought Microsoft "Return of the Arcade" set of games on a set of 3.5 floppy disks. I transferred them to an external hard drive, but when I now try to install on my Windows XP, I get a message saying it can't find Path drive A:, which of course doesn't exist. Any ideas please?

Sounds like the game was hardcoded to check for the floppy drive. I know most PC's don't have them installed anymore - but maybe you could fit one?

Or just buy an external one (to the expense of a USB Port) but it's easier to install, and if you have a laptop you can use it on that aswell.

I still have my old computer complete with floppy drive.
Is it possible to connect it to my new one?  This would save the expense of an external drive for just one game:-)

RE: Drive A: problem
Yes you could do that. It's pretty simple to install a floppy drive and here's how...

Thanks Gareth but I think I may not have been clear.   The link shows how to fit a floppy into a PC case.  My new PC does not have a space into which I could fit the floppy were I to remove it from the old PC.
I was wanting to know whether I could stretch cables across from one PC to the other and where to connect to etc.
Thanks again

RE: Drive A: problem
Yes that is possible. Just disconnect the cable from the mainboad of your old PC, as well as the cable from the Power Supply - and you'll be fixed.

Personally, I would get a 5.25 to 3.5 disc converter tray for the CD rom drive slot and fit a floppy there,

Thanks again.  I shall remove the floppy drive from my old computer and try to use it as an external.  The big question is will I find a connection on the motherboard of my new computer to match the one I have disconnected from, and if so will I need software to install the drive as A: ?

Thanks

RE: Drive A: problem
There will be a slot on the mainboard, yes.

Floppys are automatically detected and installed by Windows - so it's just plug and play. :-)
